Michigan Main Street has a blog? Now I've seen everything!

By Joe Borgstrom, Director
STARS Division
Michigan State Housing Development Authority

Welcome to the Michigan Main Street blog!
I know, I know. Does the world really need another blog? Normally, I would say no. In fact, I would normally say blogs are to literacy what fast food is to nutrition. However, the Michigan Main Street program is using the opportunity to have a blog as a chance to communicate with you directly about some of the topics we all enjoy talking about but never seem to have the time when we're together to do so. We will also put out "Quick Hits" to give one or two lines of pertinent information on a random basis. The intended audience for this are our communities who are engaged in the program through the Associate, Selected, or Master levels; local board and committee members, or just anyone who has a passion for Michigan's downtowns.

The Ground Rules
This blog will not be the personal soapbox for me or any of the Michigan Main Street staff. It will be, a professional soapbox for the Michigan Main Street staff, advisory committee, and local Michigan Main Street managers to share their views, comments, and thoughts on the challenges and rewards of practicing Main Street in Michigan.

What to Expect
Each week we will feature a different perspective on one of the four areas of Main Street. These weekly entries will be a variety of opinions from multiple staff. That way, you won't get bored reading the same person's thoughts over and over again and no one individual staff member will feel overloaded in having to put something online every week.

That's all I have for now. Keep an eye open for our first official entry and quick hits as they occur. We hope you enjoy!
